Four Massive Cross Stitch Websites

Spread the love

If you’re anything like me, you have an addiction to looking at cross stitch patterns that’s almost greater than actually cross stitching.  I find it highly fascinating how certain cross stitchers migrate to some cross stitch pattern sites and never hear of others. Hopefully this blog post can introduce you to some new sites to check out and, most importantly, give you a nearly endless list of cross stitch patterns to browse.

** Want More Cross Stitch Websites? Check out our list here!

There are four truly massive cross stitch pattern sites on this list, and I’m sure you may feel slighted if I left out your favorite site. There are more lists to come, and some will deal with smaller sites and some will deal with sites just on Etsy. I had to narrow the list, though, and I decided that these four cross stitch pattern sites are the largest ones out there.

These four sites are all vastly different from each other, but they share one thing in common: they are truly massive. We are talking dozens of designers and hundreds of patterns on each site. Of course, I haven’t counted them myself but I have gotten lost for hours looking at all the patterns. There’s truly something for every cross stitcher on these pattern sites.

The title of each cross stitch site is also a direct link to their home page so you can go check them out! Here we go!!

Heaven and Earth Designs

Fondly referred to as HAED by its highly loyal cross stitcher following, this amazing site could be considered the granddaddy of all the cross stitch pattern sites on the list. If you haven’t heard of HAED, then you probably haven’t been properly searching for cross stitch patterns!

There are over 260 separate designers with hundreds and hundreds of patterns available. Simply looking through this entire site will take days. I don’t believe I’ve looked at more than half of the site so far,  and I need to plan out a weekend to look at the rest!

The sheer variety of the cross stitch patterns are mind-boggling. There are designers who specialize in animals, abstract art, fantasy, and everything in between! Each designer page contains a biography of that artist so that you can learn more about them.

Want to stitching something truly amazing? Check out the page of the famous and legendary M.C. Escher! Yes, THAT Escher. You can now cross stitch his famous works!

Of course, some of the most popular patterns are by the artist Aimee Stewart. You may not know the name, but you’ve probably seen her patterns. Some of the most popular are Stitch In Time and a Stitching Shelf.

Patterns are constantly being added and many stitchers keep a close watch on their New Releases page. This is how I was clued in to the identity of one certain project not so long ago that I simply had to get. It truly is an addiction!

Cross Stitch Collectibles

This is quite possibly my favorite cross stitch pattern site and my go-to when I’m hankering for a new pattern! In fact, when I went to this site to get the link I realized I had a pattern in the shopping cart that I had forgotten to buy!

Even though it’s a cross stitch pattern site large enough to rival HAED’s, their content doesn’t really overlap. Cross Stitch Collectibles specializes in older fine art and the patterns look like old paintings from long ago.

There are a few things that set this site apart from the rest. One is they actually list hundreds of their patterns on Amazon which allows for free, quick shipping (for Prime members).  The second thing is the attached download store: ClickNStitch. In this store, you can purchase and download patterns instantly which is great for those of you who are impatient about getting your patterns!

They are also able to produce custom order cross stitch patterns! If you end them a photo or some other graphic you want to stitch, they will make for you a detailed cross stitch pattern. You can stitch a treasured pet, a favorite family photo, or even that vacation photo that you want to immortalize!

Golden Kite

Out of all the cross stitch pattern sites on this list, I find that Golden Kite is the one that most people don’t know about. I have no idea why that is, but its site is just as big and gorgeous as the first two on this list. This is the site where I found my so-called “lifetime” cross stitch, Old World Map 2.

I believe that this site embodies a lot of the things that make the first two sites on this list so amazing. The sheer volume of cross stitch patterns is impressive, but it’s the variety of project sizes as well as the variety of artistic styles that make it stand out from so many others.

A unique feature of this cross stitch pattern site is the difficulty rating. This speaks to both the size and the number of colors used in the pattern. A Challenge Level 1 pattern can be an 8″x11″ pattern using 55 colors.  The highest challenge, Level 7, may be a 55″ x 37″ pattern utilizing almost 200 colors (half of them blended).

They also have a vibrant on-line community also on the website.  Members of the site are encouraged to share works-in-progress pictures, and there are forums where even the most obscure question can find an answer.

Patterns can be searched not only by difficulty level, but also stitch count, color count, blended or solid, and whether you want to download the pattern or have it mailed to you.

Everything Cross Stitch

This site has not only an immense catalog of cross stitch patterns, but it has an immense amount of….well…Everything Cross Stitch! Dozens and dozens of cross stitch designers big and small are listed on their designer page. I still haven’t managed to check out every single store on the list (although I have tried for hours!!).  They boast of over 17,000 cross stitch patterns, leaflets and books on their site!

This is probably the most diverse cross stitch pattern site with patterns that range from the small, almost petite, variety up to some seriously large tapestries! Better still, if you want to order everything you’ll need (floss, etc) for your new project, you can find it here!

What if you want to do something a little different? Maybe a stamped cross stitch pillowcase or table runner? They have you covered here! This site is truly open to stitchers of all shapes and sizes! Fantastic customer service and a highly easy-to-navigate website make this a favorite of many stitchers.

In Conclusion

Well, that’s it for this list of massive cross stitch pattern websites!! There were a few that were gigantic but not quite massive enough to qualify for this list, but if you keep an eye on the blog they will be making an appearance here soon!

I also want to make a series highlighting smaller stores later in the year. We are so incredibly fortunate as cross stitchers to have such a diverse and immense collection of cross stitch patterns to choose from!

Happy stitching!!
